Membership & shares

A member roll and share register that keep themselves.

Admit members against your common bond, sell and transfer shares within your limits, and settle a member's exit in one step, with every change recorded against the officer who made it.

Members' services
Admission

Admitted only when they've paid in.

A new member starts as a prospect. The moment their entrance fee and minimum shares are paid, their membership becomes active, not before, because a member who hasn't paid in isn't yet a member. Common-bond evidence is attached at admission, and member numbers follow your own format.

  • Join by invitation, join code, request, or added directly by the secretary
  • Your own member numbers, with duplicates refused
  • Common-bond evidence kept with the record
  • Only primary societies admit individuals; district unions admit societies
Share register

Shares within the rules you set.

Members buy whole shares at your share price. Bridge enforces your per-member maximum and your concentration limit, and tells the member why in plain words.

This would give you 12.4% of share capital; the limit is 10%.

  • Whole units at your share price
  • Per-member maximum and concentration cap
  • Transfers between members recorded without moving money
  • Pledged shares can't be transferred

Every kind of member.

Junior members

When a junior member turns 18, their savings move to an adult product automatically, the guardian's mandate ends, and the year's rebate carries across.

Associate members

Associates are told when they qualify for full membership under your rules.

Corporate members

Chamas, churches and companies join as members, with signatories who act under a mandate, not as members themselves.

Beneficiaries, named in advance

Members name who receives their deposits, interest and dividends, per account or across all of them. A nominee isn't a member and gains no vote or borrowing power.

Dormant, never forfeited

Accounts with no activity for twelve months are marked dormant and kept in a separate record. Interest keeps accruing, and the member can reactivate at any time.

Leaving, settled in one step.

When a member leaves, loans, accrued interest, deposits, shares and dividends are netted into one settlement, shown to the member before anything is paid. The secretary submits it and the treasurer approves it.
